A monthly book club for people who love getting completely absorbed in a story — and then desperately need someone to discuss it with.

Each month, we choose one brilliant book and get together for an informal evening of conversation, opinions, theories, favourite characters and all the bits you couldn't stop thinking about.

No literary analysis required. No clever answers expected.

Just good books, good conversation and good company.

£8 per event • LAST THURSDAY OF EVERY MONTH • Rossendale (VENUE CONFIRMED SOON)

THE GOD OF THE WOODS

This September, we're reading The God of the Woods by Liz Moore — a layered family mystery set around an American summer camp.

Read the book beforehand, then come ready to talk about EVERYTHING.

And yes — spoilers are absolutely allowed. That's the whole point.

WE WELCOME PEOPLE COMING ON THEIR OWN. THE POINT OF THE BOOK CLUB IS TO CONNECT WITH PEOPLE IN YOUR AREA WHO LOVE READING!

  • The Common room book club runs on the last thursday every month

  • The Common room book club is held in rossendale. september’s venue will be announced very soon!

  • The Common Room book club starts at 18:30 and finishes around 20:00 hrs

  • The common room book club is £8 every month.
    Once you join, you will go onto a rolling subscription.

  • Whilst we hope you love the book club enough to feel like it’s the best bit of money you spend on yourself every month, we do appreciate there may be times when you need to cancel.

    If you need to cancel at any time, please message us before the 15th of the month.

  • Get yourself a copy of the book of the month and read it before the club meeting. (There’s no pressure to finish it though!)
    Then, just bring yourself to the club for an evening of book chats and fun!

  • firstly, the book club is a way to build community - for us to meet new people and a place where books are our common ground.

    Attending on your own is welcomed. You will be sat with new friends and I promise the evening won’t be awkward.

  • Just yourself and some money if you want to get yourself a drink.
    Bring a copy of the book for photo opportunities!

  • AS WELL AS THE EVENING ITSELF, YOU WILL HAVE ACCESS TO A WHATSAPP GROUP TO KEEP THE CHATS GOING (IF YU WISH). YOU WILL RECEIVE THE ODD FREE GIFT OVER TIME, SUCH AS BOOKMARKS AND FUN THINGS!

  • YES! BRING ONE BOOK WITH YOU EVERY MEETING THAT YOU’D LIKE TO LEAVE ON OUR SWAP TABLE AND PICK UP A COPY OF ANYTHING ESLE!
